| PEST 5000 - "Yes, Too Skinny"
(Derivative DUH027) |
Pest
5000 have all but disappeared from the face of the planet,
having little if any information available online. The
label, Montreal's Derivative Records, has disappeared
and for all I know, this record was the last release on
the label.
UPDATE:
"Pest 5000 broke up after Palimpsest, but Patti Schmidt
(their main singer and the host of Brave New Waves on
CBC radio) and guitarist Kevin Komoda have a new and amazing
band called the Nanobot Auxiliary Ballet (actually their
whole name is much longer) that just put out a picture-disc
LP on her
new label Ta-Da.
Pest had one other album and a ton of singles. They were
a wonderful live band, too. Violinist Genevieve Heistek
is now playing with some GYBE!-related band, I forget
which."
This song gets listed as a remix by
Sisterhood
of Convoluted Thinkers and thus I pass it along...
I haven't heard the original,
but if the other remix of "Too Skinny" is any
indication it's safe to say that Rob Christiansen (SOCT)
put his stamp on the song adding his signature trombone
playing, and vocals to the track.
Thanks
to Douglas Wolk for the extra info.
