The
plan for this week was to have either Flin Flon or Hot
Pursuit live tracks from 1998. After mastering the tapes
it turns out that the quality (a muffled audience recording)
is below what I'm willing to post here.
In keeping with that theme,
and to bring attention to a new Teenbeat release, I'm
posting a track from See Saw.
See Saw was the first incarnation
of a band that would undergo several changes, the most
frequent change being the name. See Saw would later become
Sea Saw, and later Magnetaphone before settling on hollAnd
(with intentional capitalization).
The reason for all the name
changes? Each and everytime it was discovered that the
name was taken: See
Saw, Sea Saw (by a "west coast" band) and
Magnetophone.
The unique spelling prevents hollAnd's Trevor Kampmann
from having to make any further name changes

In 1995, See Saw released
their first CD (a split release with Simple
Machines, whose online discography lists an incorrect
title and year of release) and it immediately went out
of print. I bought my copy in DC at Go Discs and the guy
behind the counter told me that the reason for the deletion
was the band being completely unhappy with the mastering.
Inside the CD itself is an
instruction sheet for listening which requests that for
this song "bass up to 3/4 capacity
on song 2/ treble at full capacity." and also
adds, "Disregard all hiss as
it is a production flaw, not the original intent of the
artist(s)."
In keeping with those instructions
I've made those changes for you (and removed a fair bit
of the tape hiss) in an effort to fairly represent the
bands intentions.
