This MP3 marks the 50th week of the Teenbeat
MP3 of the week. How should it be markedt? What should
be used? The obvious would be pull out something from
an old Unrest/Air Miami cassette, or something from Andrew
Beaujon's long history...
But no; this time I dig into the seedy
past of Teenbeat, when a band didn't even need to know
about the release for it to come out: The Crispy Ambulance
Cassette (TB 18)

Crispy Ambulance. Alan Hempsall
(Vocals), Robert Davenport (Guitar), Keith Darbyshire
(Bass) & Gary Madeley (Drums).
I won't try to illustrate the history
of Crispy
Ambulance, as James Nice of LTM
has already done this quite nicely, here.
In 1985, Teenbeat Records released (about)
15 copies of a "best of" Crispy Ambulance without
the bands knowledge or permission and included at the
end of side two was a track by post-Crispy Ambulance band
Ram Ram Kino.

"Special" was the 2nd track on the b-side.
Ram Ram Kino (German for
Sex Cinema) formed in November 1982 with all the original
CA members and the addition of Kirk Tallis (Guitar, Vocals)
and Mark Norton (Percussion). In 1985, Anthony Middleton
replaced Gary Madeley on drums.
They would release only one
record Advantage: Tantric Routines 1-4 (Temple
Records TOPY 006). Two years later, in 1987, Ram Ram Kino
disbanded.
Though there was a live Crispy
Ambulance in 1985, CD reissues in 1990, and a slight increase
in interest after Unrest covered the song "Deaf"
on A Factory Record (Sub Pop / TB 63) in 1991.
It was on November 5th, 1999 when the band reformed to
help launch LTM's 1999 reissues, and remained together
recording two further albums (one due for release this
spring).
