REPOSTED THE WEEK
OF FEBRUARY 07 2005.
I first read of Bossanova in Exclaim
Magazine way back in 1997. The review compared the
band (wrongly, in my opinion) to Unrest and mentioned
that Mark Robinson of that smae band had designed to cover.
So, that very same day I sent an envelope full of Canadian
cash and recieved the
EP along with my very own Bossanova cassette.
The cassette had a note in it explaining
that there were two covers included — one with a
photo (rollover the image on the left) and one without.
The one without the photo was the keeper.
Bossanova seemed to be on a roll: a cassette
release and CD EP in 1997, and in 1998 there was an announcement
of their "signing" to Teenbeat records and even
a 7" (with catalogue number issued) was planned.
At the beginning of 1999, "Rare Brazil" was
released on the 1999 Teanbeat Sampler (TB 271) and was
by far the most standout track.

There was a bit of touring and a change
in the lineup, and endless delays with the production.
The Teenbeat 7" never happened and the album never
materialized. Only two other tracks were released and
the website has yet to be updated since September 18,
2000.
However, Teenbeat "Head Honcho",
Mark Robinson posted a message January 23rd of this year
citing Bossanova's "(unreleased unfinished album)"
as among his favorite listens of 2003.
Update (Feb 07,2005):
Chris Storrow suffered a back injury a few years ago making
it difficult to complete the recordings. In a recent conversation
he stated that the recording is about "a month and
a half" away providing he manages to make it into
the studio. He is determined to release the album in 2005
or before the next album of new material is released by
My Bloody
Valentine.
