The third and final installment
of Christmas songs.
Mark Robinson's Christmas cassettes are
amongst the hardest to find in the Teenbeat Catalogue.
The first installment Black Christmas was recorded
December 22, 1987. Limited to 50 they were handed out
to friends and probably kept at the bottom of drawers
or packed up in boxes, yet they hold some interesting
songs.
Generally, the tracks are limited to single
songs, but as this is the first time Christmas rolls around
for this site (launched in March 2003), I can't help but
post three songs carefully edited together.
"White Christmas" is the standout
song on the cassette, featuring Kharyn on drums. The song
comes in that quick and the errors that appear closer
to the end are unfortunately part of the master.
"White X-mas" appears earlier
on the cassette and is just a simple vocal experiment,
probably recorded using a plastic toy and changing the
tape speed as it was mixed or recorded.
And, as a treat, "Santi Bomb"
is included, a "rap about Santi Claus" which
if is to be explained at all should be left to Mr. Mark
Robinson himself.
From the liner notes:
Happy Life. Send yourself to Mark.
