| NOW WE ARE SIX "Martha's
Vineyard" (Harlequin 001) |
This weeks
post comes hot on the heels of the release of the new
Sisterhood
of Convoluted Thinkers enhanced CD, Better Days
Coming Now.
SOCT is the solo project of Rob Christiansen,
one time member of Eggs, Grenadine, and Viva Satellite.
SOCTs coexisted alongside Christiansen's other bands as
a way to stretch his legs into other areas of music, and
expiriment with different sounds. Thus his newest work,
with hints of Bee Gees and J-pop makes complete sense.
SOCTs first full-length release was 1996s
10" album, (I Remember) the Day Smarty
Marched into Town on Hemiola Records.
"The Decision You Must Make Between Alcohol and Kissing
Me" is, I believe the first SOCT's song to include
Jeannine Durfee (in the capacity of handclaps only). At
the end, you will hear a tidbit of
"Where Are We Going? What Are We Doing?"
composed by John
Cage, and "prepared by siss-a-fish."
In related news, you can find an exclusive
track from SOCTs on Ten; Ten, released by My
Mean Magpie. It is available for free download here.
(If you like what you hear, please leave a review.)
And, if you have a copy of SOCTs song
about Tabouli. I think it is genius, but I no longer have
it. Please
get in touch.
