| Dingle "Wrenboy"
(Boxodonuts BOXO1) |
Miriam-Webster
defines dingle
as "a small wooded valley," though for me the
connotation have always pointed towards another word.
However, another
band from San Francisco had already released an album
under that name — (Curiously, Aden's first CD
has a very similar cover
to the SF Dingle) — so the band had to change
it.
Taking their name from a friend —
Aden Kumler who provided the artwork for the single and
played bass in the band Toulouse
— the name changed and Aden was born.
Aden is Fred Kovey, Josh Klein, (recently
Kevin Barker) and songwriter Jeff Gramm, the son of former
and somewhat controversial
Senator
Phil Gramm, which has always shifted attention slightly
away
from the bands own merits.
The 7" (released by Chicago's
defunct Boxodonuts Records) seems to have the songs pressed
ever so slightly slowly on the 7" itself and thus
the MP3 has been slightly adjusted in an attempt to fix
the problem.
