| ROB CHRISTIANSEN "Pink
Swarthmore" (Rocker Supernova RS1003) |
Rob "The
Guy From Eggs" Christiansen has had to live with
the image of the trombone player from Eggs despite his
long solo career and his involvement in Grenadine. He
has played in Viva Satellite and now records under the
name Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers.
This song dates from the early post-Eggs
days of Viva Satellite, and Sisterhood when Ex-Atari Kid's
Derek Morton and Jeff Sprague were trying to get the word
out about their project Music
Arch de Lux.
MAL was an improvised with no overdubs,
and in an effort to "spread the word" they recruited
guest artists to do the b-side. Among the guests were
Mark Robinson, Azuza Plane, and Trans Am.
Each artist was given a theme from which
the side was meant to reflect. For Christiansen that theme
was "songs for soundblaster."
Of the three RC songs on the cassette
"Pink Swarthmore is by far the highlight.
As an aside, I lost a mixed tape with
The Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers song "tabouli",
and boy, do I miss it.
